One year ago today Robb had a Type A/B Aortic dissection. It took the ER physicians over 4 hours to order a CT scan, as they were not thinking aorta.
Luckily, Robb was airlifted to the UF Shands Heart and Vascular hospital where an eight hour surgery saved his life.
Since that time, all three of his adult children have had either an echo cardiogram or a CT scan to check the health of their aorta. They will continue to do this on an annual basis.
Be proactive, discuss your family history with relatives and ask your physician to be checked.
